Potato popularly known as ‘The king of vegetables’, has emerged as fourth most important food crop in India after rice. · Integrated pest management (IPM) is the combination of cultural, mechanical, biological, and chemical tools to prevent, manage, and control pests (fig.1). Pests can be weeds, insects and other invertebrates, bacteria and other microorganisms, viruses, and in some cases vertebrates, such as mice in a grain elevator. This manual is a guide in the production of potatoes in Kenya, focusing on ware production. In general, however, any advice that relates to high yield and quality tuber production is applicable to seed potato seed production too. The manual will therefore be useful to all stakeholders in the potato industry wishing to learn more about the crop.
